Emergency Bed Use is a new data briefing from the King’s Fund which examines amongst other things how reducing bed use for emergency admissions can lead to improved quality of care and patient experience.

Also see NHS Institute’s Ambulatory emergency care - manage your emergencies as day cases, which identifies ambulatory emergency care models that can significantly reduce admissions to hospital beds and avoid unnecessary overnight stays for emergency patients.
