Prevention and early identification strategy - only 800,000 of the 3.5 million patients with COPD have been diagnosed, which means 2.7 million people have COPD disease, without knowing it. This strategy aims to help reduce people’s risk-taking activities, encourage them to take up more health-enhancing behaviours and to recognise the symptoms of lung disease and seek a clinical assessment. A toolkit is also available.

NICE quality standard for COPD - this new NICE quality standard complements the new Outcomes Strategy for COPD and Asthma, developed by the DoH to improve outcomes for patients through the new REACT approach.

Managing COPD as a Long Term Condition: Emerging Learning from the National Improvement Projects – gives practical examples of managing COPD, to support clinical teams in delivering quality and productivity to patients.
This bulletin is brought to you by Library and Knowledge Services. It aims to keep you up-to-date with improvement and QIPP issues. At the beginning of each month, a librarian will update the bulletin with relevant information published in the preceding month. If there are areas you think we also need to cover, please let us know.
